Espoir Ngalukiye is an alumnus of the Mandela Washington Fellowship in 2019 in Public Management at the University of Virginia Tech in the United States.
Passionate about youth, good governance and active nonviolence, Espoir Ngalukiye is a pro-democracy activist in the nonviolent, non-partisan citizen movement LUCHA (Struggle for Change); In order to raise awareness among the citizens of the city of Goma to fight and protect themselves against the COVID-19 pandemic, together with other young people of the city within GOMA ACTIF, Espoir Ngalukiye volunteers every Saturday for 3 hours to participate in awareness sessions on the respect of barrier measures.
In June 2018, Espoir Ngaluiye became national coordinator of the Panzi Foundation’s « Way to Peace » project, working on the responsibility of young people in solving problems at the local level and the vision of Dr Denis Mukwege (Nobel Peace Prize 2018).
Graduated in Computer Science in 2016 at the ISC-Goma, he was recruited by the NGO Congo Peace Network (CPN) as IT manager and national coordinator of youth peace clubs in universities, high schools, churches, …
In 2013, Ngaluiye became a journalist at Radio Tayna in Goma where he was expelled 4 years later (2017) because of his citizen engagement against the dictatorship in his country by organising and participating in peaceful demonstrations calling for the organisation of democratic and transparent elections in Congo.
